Ocean Power

Ocean power, also known as tidal power, is a type of hydropower that uses the movement of water caused by tidal currents to produce energy. Although this type of energy is rarely used, it has the potential to be the future of electricity generation because it is more predictable than wind or solar power.

There are two main categories that tidal power can be classified in: kinetic and potential energy. Kinetic tidal energy is produced by moving water currents which power turbines. Potential tidal energy is produced from the height of the tidal currents. Depending on how low or high the tides are, determines the potential tidal energy.
